Coating Machine

Coating machines are core equipment for lithium battery electrode manufacturing. They evenly apply positive and negative electrode slurry onto copper and aluminum foils. Coating quality is critical to the battery’s energy density and cycle life.

The main technical requirements include uniform coating, reliable tension control and stable operating speed. Its maximum continuous coating speed is 140 m/min, with a coating width accuracy of ±0.3 mm.

MT’s solution adopts full-servo drives for coating rolls and back rolls to deliver high-precision synchronization between rollers. The four-section closed-loop tension system uses tension sensors to monitor web tension in real time and dynamically adjust servo output to keep tension stable. Embedded closed-loop coating algorithms optimize parameters according to on-line thickness data, enabling real-time compensation for consistent coating quality.

The oven features independent multi-zone temperature control via PID closed-loop regulation. Combined with adjustable air flow, it ensures thorough and even drying of slurry. Integrated on-line defect detection and data acquisition functions track coating anomalies and trace process parameters, effectively improving electrode consistency and production yield.
